🦄 Georgia turns 4!

Our little green bean is growing up so fast!

Georgia Green—you blossomed into a highly observant, creative, silly, physical, and headstrong kiddo in year 3. From the moment you turned 3, the countdown to turning 4 began. You couldn't wait to be 4. Maybe it's because you fell in love with singing "Happy Birthday" at so many parties. Maybe it's because you secretly love being the center of attention. Maybe it's because you knew *a lot* was going to change for you this year, whether you were ready for it or not.

Here are some things I love about you:

You are a silly goose.
You love to be silly and you are always trying to make us laugh, whether it's physical comedy or knock-knock jokes or calling us "Tomato Heads".

You love to move your body.
You tend to be more physical than verbal. You've already mastered your standing bike and scooter. You love to swing at the playground and you love doing big jumps into the swimming pool.

You are creative.
You love to draw and paint. It doesn't matter if it's crayons, colored pencils, markers, chalk, paintbrushes—as long as you can make a rainbow. You love watching Bob Ross paint.

You are a helper who is fiercely independent.
Even though you are independent, you never shy away from from helping others and doing big girl tasks. It's a joy to watch you switch between these two modes.

Every year, every new milestone pushes and stretches our growing family. And for all of us, 3 was a year of tremendous growth. Personally, I was prepared for the Terrible Twos to be hard but was unprepared for how challenging a Threenager would be. Or, put a better way, maybe: I was wholly unprepared for how your Threenager-ness would shine a bright light on so many of my own shortcomings as a parent and a person.

Sometimes I think being a parent is most often about being simultaneously proud and frustrated — proud of the progress you are making and frustrated that you're not quite there yet.

The highs were high—going to pre-K school, swimming, home performances of "Defying Gravity", princess dresses, becoming a big sister—and the changes were challenging—potty training, dropping your pacifier, meltdowns, transitioning au pairs, moving from a crib to a bed, and so many BIG feelings.

You're doing great, Georgia. You're doing your best and that's enough.

Here are some memories of you being 3 I will never forget:

Your first year of Ellis school!

We fell in love with Ellis and knew you would thrive there. You entered pre-school as the youngest kiddo in your class and soared through your first year. You learned how to be part of a team and had so many of your "firsts".

Our first family trip to Mexico

New family tradition alert! Going to Mexico as a family (along with Tía Lou) was wonderful on so many levels—not only were we surrounded by a bunch of close friends for Jing and Jeduan's wedding, we also had Lou's family stay in our Airbnb with us. Seeing you interacting with Lou's mom, sister, and niece was heartwarming and reaffirmed how special the relationship with your Mexican tías is. Hopefully this will be the first trip of many Mexico trips to come.

Daddy-Daughter adventures in Florida

You love to swim, and our Florida swimming adventures have been precious and special. Traveling together with you—just the two of us—is something I will always treasure and hold dear in my heart. It is a great thrill of my life to see you so happy.

Spring break in California

Hailey Bieber Erewhon smoothies, family photoshoots, and rainbow bagels, oh my! Your first spring break in your first year of Pre-K and we really went for it. We rented an amazing Airbnb in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, swam all day, watched Moana at night, had a family photoshoot in Malibu, and jetted off to Sonoma for my friend Rod's wedding. Your mom and dad really love LA.

Georgia is a big sister now!

Our little family grew from 3 to 4 as you grew from 3 to 4. You went from an only child to a big sister. In the span of 5 weeks, you dropped your binky, moved from a crib to a big girl bed, transitioned from Tía Lou to Tía Fernanda, finished your last day of school, and became a sister. Your adaptability and resilience has been incredible to behold.
